๐ŸŒฑ Growing Voices, Cultivating Tomorrow

Green Riverbend Programmes (GRP) is a non-profit reshaping food systems through agroecology and regenerative agriculture. We empower farmers, communities, and youth with sustainable farming skills, market access, and policy advocacy. Rooted in social equity and environmental care, GRP promotes resilient food production and local empowerment. Through hands-on training and youth-led innovation, we cultivate a future where farming is a source of pride, purpose, and possibility.

GRP achieves this by:

– Implementing and advocating for farming practices that enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and reduce reliance on chemical inputs.

– Developing and support agro-ecological systems that ensure a stable and nutritious food supply for local communities.

– Providing training and resources to small-scale farmers, particularly women, youth and persons with disabilities, to adopt agro-ecological practices and improve their livelihoods.

– Strengthening the resilience of rural communities to climate change and economic shocks through diversified and sustainable farming systems.

– Engaging in policy advocacy to create an enabling environment for agro-ecological practices at local, national and international levels.

The organization is committed to activating youth and smallholder voices through education, creative expression, and agro ecological awareness.

OUR WORK

At GRP, we are committed to transforming agriculture at the grassroots level by empowering small-scale farmers to adopt agroecological and sustainable farming practices. Our approach is rooted in hands-on support, community-based training, and strategic partnerships that create long-term impact in rural farming communities.
We work closely with farmers who are ready to transition to more sustainable ways of farming. Through a series of practical and context-relevant training sessions, we build capacity in:
Soil rehabilitation โ€“ Restoring soil health using natural methods for better crop productivity.
Composting โ€“ Teaching farmers to make and use organic compost to reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) โ€“ Promoting safe and ecological approaches to pest control.
Water harvesting โ€“ Helping farmers conserve and manage water resources efficiently.
Seed saving โ€“ Encouraging the preservation and exchange of indigenous and climate-resilient seed varieties.
Marketing and value addition โ€“ Supporting farmers to access markets, improve product quality, and earn better incomes.

A key pillar of our work is the active involvement of youth in agriculture. We believe the future of farming lies in energizing the next generation with skills, innovation, and opportunity.

A key pillar of our work is the active involvement of youth in agriculture. We believe that the sustainability and resilience of our food systems depend on young people being empowered, equipped, and inspired to lead in the agricultural space. With many rural youth facing unemployment and disconnection from the land, we see agroecology as a powerful solution, not just for food security, but for dignified livelihoods, innovation, and community development
