GROWING FOOD. EMPOWERING PEOPLE. RESTORING THE LAND.
Growing a More Sustainable Food Future
Green Riverbend Programmes is a community-driven non-profit using agroecology, sustainable agriculture, education and empowerment to build resilient communities.
who we are
Transforming Food Systems, Strengthening Communities
Green Riverbend Programmes is a non-profit organisation established in 2023 to respond to the interconnected challenges of food insecurity, poverty, environmental vulnerability and limited opportunities within communities.
Our work uses food systems and agroecology as pathways to empower people and strengthen communities, with a strong focus on young people and women, and a particular commitment to accessibility, inclusion and the participation of the Deaf community.
Working primarily within the Eastern Cape Province, GRP brings together agroecology, food security, youth and women empowerment, climate resilience, community wellbeing and social justice.
We believe that sustainable development must create meaningful opportunities for people to participate, contribute and lead. Our work therefore seeks to make food systems and community development more accessible, inclusive and responsive to the people they are intended to serve.
We work alongside young people, women, Deaf people, farmers and local communities to develop solutions that strengthen livelihoods, build food security and climate resilience, and create more equitable communities — while caring for the land.
We believe that transforming food systems is not only about how we grow food, but about creating systems in which more people have the opportunity to participate, prosper and shape their own futures.
How We Create Impact
One Organisation. Three Connected Pathways.
Our work brings together three practical pathways that connect food production, skills development and community access.
